MUSC 240 - Western Music Theory I Students will review the elementary concepts of pitch and rhythmic notation. The course quickly progresses through scale construction, pitch intervals, chord construction, and fundamental concepts of counterpoint and instrumentation. By the end of the semester, students will be able to compose two-part counterpoint, spell triads, and seventh chords, and will begin to understand four-part notation and scoring.
Prerequisites MUSC 180, 220 and 280. Concurrent with MUSC 241. When Offered Offered in fall and spring. (3 cr.)
