FILM 000/3115 - American Cinema 1895-1945 (3 cr.)
Description This course provides a history of the most influential cinema in the world: Hollywood. American Cinema 1895-1945 concentrates on the first half of the twentieth century. Students will acquire broad knowledge of the early years of American cinema and of the classical Hollywood studio system, and will view films from the silent, black-and-white era as well as those made just after the introduction of sound and color. This course is designed for students from across the disciplines and carries no prerequisites.
