Description This course emphasizes the evolution of money, the payment system and the commercial banking. The role of central banks, use of monetary tools, the interaction between banking sector and financial markets in impacting domestic macroeconomic performance and the global economy. Topics include: monetary theory and policy; central banking; management of the banking system; financial regulations; and the nexus between monetary policy, financial markets and macroeconomic performance. The course combines theoretical formalization with empirical investigations.
