Course Requirements

Six courses (18 credit hours) are required for the Diploma.  All students must take the required track courses with the exception of the research methodologies courses.  Diploma students will not receive credit for research methodology courses.  In addition to the two required courses in the respective tracks (see MA program description for details), students select four electives at the 500 level.  Diploma students in the Gender and Justice and Gender and Development in the Middle East tracks select the four courses from the respective track electives (see MA program description for details).  Students in the Gender and Women’s Studies in the Middle East/North Africa track may take one 400 level course, and one course from other related areas at the 500 level, with the approval of the IGWS Graduate Advisory Committee.

The diploma option allows students to pursue a disciplinary MA at AUC and at the same time acquire gender studies qualifications.
