ARIC 3343 - Early Islamic History (3 cr.)
Description In the space of a few centuries, Islam went from being a local Arabian religion to a global religion led by a continent spanning empire. This course examines Islam’s emergence and the rapid expansion of the Arab-Islamic communities under the Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties covering the period from the seventh to the mid-tenth centuries.
