ARCH 2211 - History, Theory & Criticism of Architecture & Urbanism I (3 cr.)
Description A history of architecture from Pre-historic Times to Enlightenment. Introduction to the historical development of global architecture from the first known settlement to the early nineteenth century, including its social, technological, and conceptual aspects. Special emphasis on studying different paradigms, individual architects, buildings, and theoretical writings. Traditional, local vernacular, and contemporary vernacular architecture are also studied. Special emphasis on Ancient Egyptian Architecture and Islamic Architecture & Urbanism.
