GHHE 000/5520 - Applied Neuroscience II (3 cr.)
Description Neuropathology and Neurotherapeutics. This course comprises an elaboration and discussion of the biochemistry, molecular biology and cellular neurobiology of neurotransmission and vulnerability of the nervous system to disease. Capitalizing on this understanding, the pharmacological rationale for therapeutic intervention, including stem cell and gene therapy, in the central, peripheral and autonomic nervous systems are discussed, as are the unique vulnerabilities of the nervous system to environmental and occupational toxicants.
