MUSC 439/4309 - Digital Mixing Techniques (3 cr.)

Description The course will examine the theory and practice of the music mixing process and mixing analysis, using a digital audio workstation (DAW) application, Protools v.8.0.1, currently the market standard. Students will study the different hardware (like studio monitors or speakers), software (i.e. the Protools application), and processes (like meters and signal flow), involved in digital mixing, the use of equalizers, dynamics processors, effects (reverb, chorus and delay) and pitch corrections, and the different types of panning, automation and bouncing of final mixes.
