EGPT 341/5110 - Egypt in the First Millennium BC (3 cr.)
Prerequisites and , or instructor’s consent.
Description The course covers the history of Egypt during the first millennium BC (1069-332 BC), a period characterized by much internal conflict and long periods of foreign domination. It examines the factors that led to the demise of Egypt’s New Kingdom, traces the rise of the Libyan and Nubian dynasties, and the subsequent annexation of Egypt by the Persian Empire. Special Attention will be devoted to the last dynasties of the Pharaonic tradition, Dynasties XXI-XXX.
