EDUC 000/3011 - Educating Children and Youth for a Sustainable Future (3 cr.)
Description The natural resources available on planet earth are declining due to people’s misuse of these resources. This course presents the knowledge, skills and dispositions children and youth need in order to successfully meet the challenges and opportunities that await them as agents of change in a sustainable global development context, to preserve the planet’s resources. Through this course, students will achieve an understanding of education for sustainable development (ESD), how is it defined, why it is needed and how to infuse it into the educational system. ESD is perceived as a need for this generation and future generations in Egypt and elsewhere, for thinking about a future in which environmental, societal, and economic considerations are balanced, in the pursuit of development and improved quality of life.
