EDUC 556/5233 - Action Research (3 cr.)
Prerequisites
Description This course will lead students into action research, a form of self-reflective systematic inquiry by practitioners on their own practice. The process of action research will assist students in assessing needs, documenting the steps of inquiry, analyzing data, and making informed decisions that can lead to desired educational outcomes. The course will equip students with research tools that can be used to contribute to school renewal and instructional improvement. Students will also learn about the four types of action research: collaborative, critical, classroom, and participatory. Finally, the course will critically examine a selected number of case studies from various regions.
