PHIL 234 - Philosophy of the Social Sciences Description The social sciences do not consist simply of the application of the methodology of modern natural science to the study of society, but instead are grounded in philosophy, both historically and thematically. This course presents the basic philosophy and presuppositions from which the social sciences operate. The course is especially for students who major or minor in a social science and who need a philosophic background as a context in which the social sciences can be properly understood.
