The Aim of The Program

The professional interdisciplinary diploma in Water, Energy, Food Technologies (WEFT) is a 18 credit hour program. This program aims to qualify professionals in the field of agriculture, energy, water to implement the sustainable resource management in desert areas ,target, as well as tackle and provide solutions for water, energy, and food related challenges addressed in the “Egypt 2030” strategy. This is done by qualifying the participants in different fields, including sustainable resource management, agriculture, engineering, entrepreneurship, and information technology. The program aims to provide participants with a sound technical and practical understanding of innovation, design, entrepreneurship,  and managing sustainable WEF projects in the desert. Participants will learn how to identify, assess, and shape WEF nexus challenges into real business opportunities through this program. 

Objective

Participants of the professional diploma in WEFT will:

  • Have the interdisciplinary knowledge of resource management of WEFT. 
  • Build a strong culture of green entrepreneurship and business in Egypt and the region.
  • Excel in the different aspects of resource management, sustainable agriculture, and green technologies.

Application Requirements

A candidate for the program must have a higher education degree in agriculture, engineering, or other related backgrounds, this could be 4-5 year bachelor’s or a 2 year institute certificate. 

Language Requirements

The diploma program is offered in English.

Program Requirements

Participants must complete all program requirements to complete the WEFT professional diploma. The professional diploma takes two semesters on average to complete. Different study opportunities may be selected based on the participant’s background and interests.

The program courses are divided into 4 phases.  The completion of phase 2 courses is a prerequisite for enrollment in phase 3 courses. Additionally, participants are urged to complete all courses in the diploma or at least phase 2 courses and registered in the last courses remaining from either phase 1 or 3 to register for the WEFT graduation project.
