APLN 5317  -  Integrating Technology into Language Pedagogy (3 cr.)

Technology has the potential to significantly enhance language teaching and learning when integrated effectively. However, many language educators may find the implementation process challenging. This course is designed for current and future language educators who aim to effectively integrate technology into their teaching practice. We will begin by exploring past and present approaches, methods, and techniques for foreign language teaching, reflecting on how various technologies have been incorporated. Next, we will delve into the use of established and emerging digital tools to support the development of communicative competence as learners engage in language acquisition. We will explore how to use these tools to create interactive and collaborative activities that foster language learning. Finally, we will focus on specific emerging technologies for communicative and task-based language teaching, including digital game-based and mobile-assisted language learning.
