ECON 4051 - Seminar on Economic Development and Policy in the Middle East (3 cr.)
Prerequisites ECON 2021 or Consent of Instructor.
Description This course explores the application of key concepts relating to economic development and policy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The focus is on evidence-based policy analysis in areas such as macroeconomic adjustment, population and migration policies, labor market performance, poverty and inequality reduction.
The course adopts an interdisciplinary approach, with special emphasis on cross-cutting themes in MENA development such as: sustainability and diversification in resource rich economies, gender equality of opportunity, social inclusion, decent work and regional cooperation in economic policy frameworks.
