GHHE 000/5343 - Chemical Teratogenesis (3 cr.)
Prerequisites permission of Instructor.
Description This course explores the basic processes of embryonic and fetal development as a basis for understanding the potential for pharmaceutical agents in inducing congenital defects. From the historical cases of thalidomide and hypervitaminosis A teratogenicity to the contemporary abuse of recreational drugs and the mandated FDA regulation pertaining to antibiotics, analgesics and anticoagulants, this course will elaborate on gestation period specific limitations in therapeutic usage.
