PENG 320/3227 - Formation Evaluation (3cr. + 1cr.)
Prerequisites PENG 3011 and PENG 3021
Description This course provides the students with the understanding of the modern well logging tools, measurements and interpretation. It starts with Borehole environment, environmental corrections of each measurement then the petrophysical evaluation of formation properties using the logging measurements. The evaluation part of the course covers the clay volume and types, formation porosity and types, fluids distributions and types, rock mechanical properties, core to log calibration. Logs interpretation is performed utilizing related softwares.
