Prerequisites and or co-requisite.
Description A comprehensive molecular biology course with emphasis on principles, processes and methodologies leading to the formation of central concepts of molecular genetics. Students are presented to the latest models of describing gene structure, genome organization and regulation of gene and protein expression, in eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Current topics such as epigenetics, RNA interference and transgenics are also exposed. Laboratory sessions cover modern techniques in recombinant DNA technology related to gene cloning, protein expression, and omics.
