Description Review of theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of the state, institutions and public policy; explores dynamic relationships among state, society and economy. Introduction to political theory, institutional theory and public policy theory, from theories of who governs and how to the policy process. Extensive use of case studies to explore how institutions shape political life, policy, reform, and the democratic transition.
