EDUC 552/5231 - Online and Blended Learning Design and Instruction in Developing Countries (3 cr.)
Description Online and blended learning have become commonplace instructional modalities all over the world. Integrating them into developing countries and Arab contexts presents its own challenges and opportunities. The first part of the course will focus on research related to the latter. The main part of the course will focus on design, assessment, and teaching principles for online and blended learning. Students will engage in real-world projects that involve the application of these principles to their own contexts. The final part will discuss the implications of some trends such as MOOCs and social media for instruction in the region. The course is relevant for educators and designers in both K-12 and higher education settings.
