PENG 305/3211 - Reservoir Fluids (2 cr. + 1 cr.)
Prerequisites or concurrent.
Description Petroleum fluid properties, gas behavior, application of deviation factor to ideal gas law, fundamentals of phase behavior: bubble point and dew point curves, retrograde, characterizing the reservoir fluid, properties of reservoir fluids: formation volume factor, viscosity, solution gas-oil ratio, API gravity, specific gravity; and estimating gas, oil, and water properties from correlations, equations of state to predict PVT properties, applications of numerical methods and software, lab is to demonstrate PVT experiments and emphasize the concepts of petroleum fluid behavior under reservoir and surface conditions.
