RHET 380/3150 - Poetry Writing (3 cr.)
Prerequisites
Description As a workshop with a significant critical component, this course focuses on developing students’ mastery of language through the writing of poetry. That writing is grounded with an examination of poetry’s rhetorical and cultural impact. Students in this course will write a series of poems in response to weekly assignments, analyze the work of poets from both the West and the Middle East, and complete a final portfolio that shows significant revision and careful analytical thinking about the poems themselves as well as their place within the genre.
