ARIC 439 - Islamic Law A survey of the origins of Jurisprudence in Islam and its development up to the founding of the four schools. The course covers the main sources of fiqh, Qur’an and Sunna, together with ijma’ and qiyas, and the study of the growth of the Maliki, Hanafi, Shafi’i and Hanbali schools. Prerequisites Prerequisite: consent of instructor. When Offered Offered in fall and spring. (3 cr.)
