GEDC 5 - Sustainable Community Development


Description/Outline  This course reviews what sustainability is and examines the importance of sustainable development in counteracting global climate change and globalization challenges. It focuses on sustainable community development as a community-directed process of development that is based on human values, active learning, shared communication and cooperation, while explaining the global development and environmental challenges articulated in the Millennium Development Goals and later the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). It intends to provide an intellectual understanding of the principles of sustainability, and in how current and future demands for the earth's resources can be met.
