Bachelor of Arts

The curriculum for the B.A. in Art provides a generalist approach within a liberal arts tradition and offers the possibility of a concentration of courses either in Studio Art or Art History. The program promotes an integration of various artistic disciplines, including an awareness of non-Western, especially Arabic/Egyptian, artistic traditions.

Studio Art courses develop a comprehensive foundation in two-dimensional and three-dimensional studio art disciplines in conjunction with the theoretical and analytical components of Art History. Courses in Art History take advantage of AUC’s unique geographical position in the world, exploring influential movements in Western art as well as the rich aesthetic heritage of the Middle East.

In order to be accepted into the art major, all students will be required to have taken three introductory courses (ARTV 200, 201, and either 310, 211, or 212) to submit a portfolio of their work, to be interviewed by Art program faculty.
