Petroleum Engineering Minor

Fifteen to Sixteen credit hours are required to earn the minor. Students must take all of the seven credit hours of group A courses, in addition to eight to nine credit hours from group B courses. Students should seek guidance from the Minor Advisor before selecting electives from group B. The advisor is named by the Department of Petroleum and Energy Engineering (PENG).

 

Group A: The following courses are required for the Petroleum Engineering minor (7 credits):

Group B: 8-9 credits selected from the following:

1- Drilling Engineering Focus (8 credits)
• PENG 302/3021 - Reservoir Rock Properties (3 cr.)  
• PENG 303/3022 - Petrophysics and Fluids Lab (1 cr.)  
• PENG 311/3111 - Drilling Engineering I (3 cr.)  
• PENG 313/3112 - Drilling Engineering I Lab (1 cr.)  

2- Production Engineering Focus (9 credits)
• PENG 322/3311 - Production Engineering Fundamentals (2 + 1 Lab)  
• PENG 323/3321 - Surface Facilities (3 cr.)  
• PENG 461/4226 - Petroleum Economics (3 cr.)
