Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology
The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology is administrated by the graduate program in Counseling and Community Psychology. The Counseling Psychology program will help students develop skills and knowledge that are needed to provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and groups struggling with psychosocial issues and mental illness. The program exposes students to methods of psychological practice that are ethically responsible and culturally appropriate to Egypt and the region.
Admission
The applicant should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA in undergraduate studies; if the student has an MA in a related field already, a 3.0 GPA will also be expected at that level. The applicant should have also completed an undergraduate major in psychology and/or the completion of a minimum of 15 credits (or equivalent) in psychology or related social/behavioral sciences including: Statistics, Research Design, and Abnormal Psychology.
While applications are accepted and evaluated during both the fall and spring application periods, the program course sequence only starts in the fall semester. Admitted students with course prerequisite requirements and/or English language requirements, must complete these requirements before being allowed to enroll in the program classes. Completion of these prerequisites can take up to a year, so applicants who are not psychology majors are encouraged to apply during the fall application period in order to have enough time to meet the prerequisite requirements before the start of the program.

The applicant should demonstrate proficiency in the English language in accordance with AUC standards
